No problems with the ankle, but the workout was awful. I was going to do a total of 6 or 7 tempo miles broken up into segments but I was going so slow and putting in a lot of effort. I have had a cold for the past 4 days, so I'm going to blame it on that but it was still pretty frustrating. It never bothered me on any of my normal runs, but I guess it affects you a lot more when you start trying to push it. Also, my bowels need to chill. I had to stop at home several times during a single run. Warmed up 2 miles and did some strides, stopped at home, did some strides and started 3 miles tempo. Was going for 5:45 and hit 5:46 for the first mile. I was ok with that, but then I hit 5:49 after feeling like I had picked it up. I sped up again and got through the third mile in 5:33 (downhill), 5:43 average. This required way more effort than I thought it would. Jogged home for a second and jogged to the track to see what else I could muster up. Did a mile in 5:36, rested for 2 or 3 minutes, and did another mile in 5:24. Now that I look back at it it wasn't an awful workout, still not what I wanted or was expecting. Jogged home and called it quits. 8 miles for this run.
Wed, 20 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Tue, Jun 19, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-19-2018.html
4 miles in the morning slow, my ankle still hurts, bad sign. Postponing my tempo workout until it feels better.

Was planning on going to the gym to ride bikes but went for a run to see how my foot felt. It was fine actually, I wanted to go 8 but I had eaten so much before that I could only handle 4. 6:55 pace.
Tue, 19 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Jun 18, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-18-2018.html
Nice run at 6 pm, 80 degrees. Jogged 3 miles including a few laps on the track with an old friend from high school then did 4x60 meter hill sprints. Felt ok but it seemed like I was crawling! Almost like those dreams where you are trying to run but you can't. I need to do those more often! Finished up with 4 more miles. Near the end of that I stepped weird and felt a sharp pain on the inside of my right achilles, not good. It felt similar to the injury I got in November on the other leg, but much less intense. It scared me so I stopped and walked for a bit. Ran the last mile home with no problem. 7.3 miles.

Did another run at 10:30 pm and actually felt amazing! I just felt like I was gliding, it must have been those sprints. About 3 miles, not sure on pace, I didn't bring the watch. No pain in the ankle, but I'm going to be ultra careful for the next few days, no way in heck I'm doing that all over again!
Mon, 18 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Jun 16, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-16-2018.html
Great long run today! We drove up to a trail in Sun Valley and my family did a hike while I ran. Went up a dirt road for 5 miles, turned back the same way, then ran up the hike my family was doing and back down. Pretty tough on some parts but it was a great run! My hamstrings were both ok but both my achilles gave me trouble at different parts of the run. In the end they were fine. Slowest mile was 10:50 up the trail, fastest was 5:45 down the trail, and had a couple of 6:10s on the flat part of the dirt road. Lowest elevation was 6500. 7:28 average for 16.2 miles. It is gorgeous up there! I hope I get to go back some time.
Sat, 16 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Jun 15, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-15-2018.html
Drove up to Idaho and did a run in Bellevue on a dirt road up a canyon. It felt like higher elevation but I checked and it was only a about 600 feet higher. My watch wasn't working so I just went by time. 66 minutes, I'm going to say 9.25 today.
Fri, 15 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Thu, Jun 14, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-14-2018.html
Went to the gym to run today and my achilles was really bothering me. I just kept going because I'm SICK of missing time because of injuries! 9 miles at 8.4 mph. It'll be a little bit of a lower mileage week but that's ok given that I might be getting injuries again.
Thu, 14 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Wed, Jun 13, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-13-2018.html
Probably a mistake to have two kind of hard days in a row. I'm having problem with my hamstrings and achilles now so that's awesome! 4 miles midday at 7:15 and 4 more at night at 7:21.
Wed, 13 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Tue, Jun 12, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-12-2018.html
Decided to do a tempo today even with the kind of hard day yesterday. Warmed up 4 miles @7:25 to see how my legs were and I felt ok. Had to stop at the bathroom after the warm up, my stomach is still freaking out a little bit.

Did the five mile loop for the tempo and wore my old boosts and they are so much faster than my hoka trainers! Started with 5:51-5:50 going uphill, then 5:41-5:37-5:30 going downhill. My stomach was not enjoying that last mile. Stopped at home for the bathroom and did a 10 minute cooldown around the cemetary. 10.5 for the run, pretty solid tempo, better than I was expecting. I was going to do some fast stuff on Thursday but I'm going to do a hard trail run in Idaho on Friday. Probably just a couple sprints on Thursday.
Tue, 12 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Jun 11, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-11-2018.html
I was planning on doing that hill workout but I had to go up to lagoon with my brothers today. I decided I would let them go and I'd meed up with them later so I could run. I tried to do the workout on a trail near some canyon up there but it was so hot and I was dehydrated and I had no idea where I was! The plan was 1.5 miles hard up the mountain but I got half a mile in and decided I should probably turn around before I pass out from heat stroke. I went south along what I think was bonneville shoreline trail for a few miles and eventually found my way back to lagoon. I downed the two hamburgers we had gotten on the way up right as I finished running and that was an awful idea..... 8.5 miles for the run with .5 really hard up the canyon as well as a few uphill pushes on some hills on the trail, not optimal but headed in the right direction.
Mon, 11 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Sat, Jun 09, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-09-2018.html
No run, I kept postponing it because I was scared of the workout and then I ended up not even going. Pretty mad at myself but whatever, I'll get it done on Monday.
Sat, 09 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Fri, Jun 08, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-08-2018.html
85 degrees when I started at 11 am, though I felt pretty good throughout. Except for the dude burning his weeds along the road for almost half a mile! That sucked, I had to run with my eyes closed and my shirt over my mouth. 8.1 @7:10.

Another 8.1 miles later in the day @6:49. Felt great.
Fri, 08 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Thu, Jun 07, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-07-2018.html
No run, no time. I really need to get consistent.
Thu, 07 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Wed, Jun 06, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-06-2018.html
Finally got my long run in! Way slower than I like to do them, but hey it's like my first one since my 2 week break. 17 miles in 1:52:00, very hot even though I started at 10 pm. I ran through every sprinkler I saw. 6:36 average with range of 7:29 #1 and 6:08 #11. Had some more stomach problems today which forced a bathroom break at 12.5 miles which kind of messed up the rhythm I had going.
Wed, 06 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Tue, Jun 05, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-05-2018.html
Ran at the gym today, got through 5 and switched over to the bikes because of my achilles. I count every 8 minutes of biking as 1 mile running so I just did 25 mins to geet to 8 today.
Tue, 05 Jun 2018 06:00:00 Mon, Jun 04, 2018 http://JoeyB.fastrunningblog.com/blog-06-04-2018.html
I remember when I used to use this blog in high school and it gave me some time to think through my running, so I think I'm going to start using it again.

Good workout tonight, stomach was really upset all day so I had to adjust the workout a bit. I was planning on 15x(2 min hard, 1 min moderate) but I got through 6 of them and had to stop at home for the bathroom. So 2 mile warmup, 6x2/1, splits of 7:42-7:09-6:01-5:47-5:43 @6:29. Stopped at home then did a 5 min jog, 5 min hard, 5jog, 3 hard, 3 easy, 2 hard, and cooldown home for 10.2 today.
Mon, 04 Jun 2018 06:00:00
